One might find it strange that a website for an I.T.
person contains a section on agriculture. The truth is, I love the environment and
I find working fields, growing plants and doing manual work very relaxing and entertaining.
It pulls me away from my desk, allows me to do some physical activity and I can
switch off my mind from the normal worries and thoughts related to solving computer
problems.
Unfortunately, I'm not as good at farming as I am at technology. I'm just a wanna-be-farmer
whose work in the fields is just a hobby, a distraction from the normal way of life.
I had never really cared about the field my father used to work, until he died. I
found it a great waste to abandon the field he toiled on for all his life and that's
when I decided I'll start caring for it myself.
This section is just a collection of articles and information that I learn as I
go along in working the field I have. I can refer to it when I forget something.
Most resources I find online are for farmers abroad with hectares and hectares of
land. The help provided in such articles is for different climates and different
plants. Information on pests and pesticides is also directed to what pests infest
the crops in one's country. I hope I can build here a good collection of articles
and hints for Maltese wanna-be farmers with a smaller piece of land as well.
